Meditation is Amazing! It can help you obtain better health and a happier life. It does take time to master, as does any other skill. If a person sticks with it and is willing to experiment with the different methods, they are more likely to discover a meditation style that suits them.
There are numerous styles of meditation such as some having a movement component to them and some focusing more on the stillness of your body.
- Metta Meditation: The goal is to develop love and kindness towards everything. This includes anything that may stress you out and even developing an understanding and an inner peace with your enemies.
- Mindfulness Meditiation: The purpose of this meditation is to stay in the present (I am particularly horrible at this meditation). Mindfulness meditation is something people can do almost anywhere. Such as waiting in line, for example, you may focus on the sights, sounds, and smells you experience in the moment.
- Mindful Breathing Meditiation: This form of meditation which focues on breath awareness and offers many of the same benefits as mindfulness meditiation.
- Transcendental Meditation: This is a spiritual form of meditation where you are in the seated position and are also breathing slowly. The goal is to transcend or rise above the person’s current state of being. This can also be done by choosing a mantra or a repeated word or series of words.
- Dance Meditation: (My Favorite) This is a great way to exercise your mind and have an emotional release by allowing yourself to express what you feel through movement.
- Float Therapy: Meditation is conducted while you float in water. Floating can take place in a closed cabin or pod, with lighting or in total darkness, and with or without music. The water temperature trys to match your temperature and salt is added to help you float.
- Kundalini Yoga: is an active meditation that utilizes movements with deep breathing and mantras.
