Environmental Inventions

As the population increase and the pressure on our Earth’s environment accelerates, new inventions are needed in order to save the earth and us. Below are 5 new inventions that will help with that process.

5 Environmental Inventions for 2022

  1.  Advanced Photovoltaics (PV): To improve PV performance, emerging companies are devising technologies to concentrate solar power using mirrors and lenses. Innovations in PV materials, such as the use of perovskite, are increasing energy conversion multifold. These innovations are further coupled with photovoltaic designs that enable maximum efficiency and high productivity. Dutch startup Lusoco develops a luminescent solar concentrator technology. Norwegian Crystals is a Norwegian startup that manufactures low carbon monocrystalline silicon ingots for high-performance photovoltaic devices.
  2. Hydro Power: Startups are converting the salinity gradient formed due to the osmotic pressure difference between seawater and river into usable energy. Seabased is an Irish startup that develops modular wave energy converters. Iranian startup GED Company offers microturbines for distributed generation of hydroelectricity from water streams like canals and rivers.
  3. Wind Energy: Startups are devising offshore and airborne wind turbines to reduce the demand for land-based wind energy. Innovations in this field often integrate with other energy sources such as floating wind turbines, solar, or tidal energy. To further improve efficiency, there are constant advances in the aerodynamic designs of the blades. Startups also develop efficient generators and turbines for high energy conversion.  Hydro Wind Energy provides a hybrid energy system. Helicoid provides enhanced blade quality during wind blade manufacturing.
  4. Bioenergy: Bioenergy constitutes a type of renewable energy derived from biomass sources. Startups and big companies consider algal and microalgal feedstocks for use in the aforementioned conversion processes. Phycobloom is a British startup that uses synthetic biology to produce bio-oil from algae. 
  5. Hydrogen: Hydrogen is derived from non-renewable sources in the form of grey and brown hydrogen. In the past, developments in renewable energy and fuel cells have pushed the shift to green hydrogen. While cleaner, it also struggles with the problems of low energy conversion efficiency of fuel cells and challenges in transportation. For these reasons, the developments in green hydrogen focus on improving hydrogen storage, transport, and distribution. ElektrikGreen is a US-based startup that uses green hydrogen to charge fuel cell vehicles.

Age of Aquarius

Picture for a moment Woodstock in 1969, when the Age of Aquarius was in full swing. Or was it? Much change happened in the 1960s, but would it be considered the Age of Aquarius? Astrologers believe that the Age of Aquarius is an astrological age affects humanity, possibly by influencing the rise and fall of civilizations or cultural tendencies. Many believe that as humanity is propelled into a new world of freedom, the forces of power from the Piscean Age are clinging on to their systems, currencies, tools, and their last stand for power.

UFOs

What are signs that we are being propelled into a new age? Sightings of UFOs are increasing. A report by The New York Times uncovered that according to data from the National U.F.O. Reporting Center, UFO sightings surged across the United States. New York especially saw a rise, with sightings doubling year on year during 2020 to 300 total sightings. Nationwide sightings increased by 1,000 to a total of 7,200, an increase of around 16%. Individuals in the United States are not the only individuals capturing images. Jobs

Another sign is people walking away from their jobs and challenging this institution. A record 4.3 million people quit their jobs in August 2021, this is evidence of the considerable leverage that workers have in today’s economy. Americans demanded higher pay, better working conditions and more flexible arrangements. Those number of people who quit rose in accommodation and food services, wholesale trade and state and local government education. Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM, stated that “The American worker is now confident that he or she has the bargaining power and can obtain a reasonable wage and have influence over the shape of working conditions”.

This is not only happening in the US, 41% of workers globally are thinking about handing in their notice, according to a new Microsoft survey. UK and Ireland survey found that 38% of employees were planning to leave their jobs in the next six months to a year.

Government

Lastly, people worldwide want a change and the world leaders are noticing. Regardless if you are conservative or liberal, no matter who is in power, the tricks are the same and so is the rhetoric. The interesting part is people are stepping up and voicing this and I hope it continues. We must remember if you follow the money trail the truth becomes apparent. As Teddy Roosevelt, 26th president of the United States, has stated, “Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.”
