What you need to know for the City of Lights-Paris

Paris is the city of lights as well as organized chaos. Everything is working, but you can’t figure out how. Granted, this is solely from my perspective, but, I was truly amazed how there were so many different cultures doing their own thing and yet the people who worked at the museums and attractions seem to make sure everyone’s needs were met. You are probably thinking, “Well, doesn’t that happen in most tourist areas around the world?” Yes and No. Most of the time, the lines are just mobs of people, each with their own personal bubble space and agenda and yet all their needs were managed quickly in these line mobs.

  1. The Louvre museum is Ginormous. Make a plan! You should decided what you would like to see the most and try to see those exhibits first. You can easily spend three days looking at everything in the Louvre. Also, I must caution you on gazing upon the Mona Lisa and attempting to obtain a picture. It is a mosh pit. Took an elbow in the cheek for this picture of the Mona Lisa below. So be prepared to possibly wrestle for a picture of the women with a secret smile.
Mona Lisa

2. The Paris Opera House (Palais Garnier) is a Must! Absolutely, beautiful on the inside! We even got to peak in through the glass doors to watch the ballet dancers practice. I am a fan of Phantom of the Opera, so this made my trip.

3. Palace of Versailles is Beautiful and can be overwhelming. You can easily spend 2 days there. Day 1 would be spent just visiting Versailles and Day 2 would be spent at Trianon Palaces and the Estate of Marie Antoinette. However, it is possible to see it all in one day.

4. Notre Dame Cathedral was another love of mine during my trip. The Cathedral was breath-taking and worth seeing in person.

5. Crepes! Eat tons and tons of crepes. I had sweet crepes and savory crepes. All of it was wonderful. Also, make sure you get your fill with Macaroons. Both taste better eating in Paris, Fact. Totally fact check this, you got to believe me.

6. Arc De Triomphe is worth seeing as well. Walking there is great because you can soak up your surroundings, such as the western end of the avenue des Champs-Élysées.

7. Seine River Cruises in Paris is a good way to see the city if you are short on time.

8. Disneyland. Before you roll your eyes and think, “You can do this in the United States”, please remember, the rides are more exciting since they are speaking in French instead of English. It makes some of the scarier rides more thrilling, such as Tower of Terror. Of course if my language skills were up to par and I could understand French properly, this would not be an issue. However, if I spoke French properly it would not have been as exciting.

9. A couple of things I wish I saw but did not have time: Paris Catacombs, Moulin Rouge and Musée d’Orsay.

Different Methods of Meditation

Meditation is Amazing! It can help you obtain better health and a happier life. It does take time to master, as does any other skill. If a person sticks with it and is willing to experiment with the different methods, they are more likely to discover a meditation style that suits them.

There are numerous styles of meditation such as some having a movement component to them and some focusing more on the stillness of your body.

  • Metta Meditation: The goal is to develop love and kindness towards everything. This includes anything that may stress you out and even developing an understanding and an inner peace with your enemies.
  • Mindfulness Meditiation: The purpose of this meditation is to stay in the present (I am particularly horrible at this meditation). Mindfulness meditation is something people can do almost anywhere. Such as waiting in line, for example, you may focus on the sights, sounds, and smells you experience in the moment.
  • Mindful Breathing Meditiation: This form of meditation which focues on breath awareness and offers many of the same benefits as mindfulness meditiation.
  • Transcendental Meditation: This is a spiritual form of meditation where you are in the seated position and are also breathing slowly. The goal is to transcend or rise above the person’s current state of being. This can also be done by choosing a mantra or a repeated word or series of words.
  • Dance Meditation: (My Favorite) This is a great way to exercise your mind and have an emotional release by allowing yourself to express what you feel through movement.
  • Float Therapy: Meditation is conducted while you float in water. Floating can take place in a closed cabin or pod, with lighting or in total darkness, and with or without music. The water temperature trys to match your temperature and salt is added to help you float.
  • Kundalini Yoga: is an active meditation that utilizes movements with deep breathing and mantras.

DNA, The Number 8 and the Infinity Symbol

Random Thoughts: I was recently thinking about how DNA and the Infinity Symbol looks similar in a 2D image. Which gave me the idea to look at the similarities between DNA and Infinity Symbol. While looking up the definitions, I thought I might as well also check out the meaning of the number 8 since, in my mind, it is a right-side up Infinity Symbol. Below is some of the information I gathered quickly:

  1. A DNA molecule provides a “code” that specifies all the proteins that any living thing could ever require and (get ready…) it has an infinity amount of different possibilities.
  2. Infinity is taken from the Latin word ‘infinitas’ which means unboundedness or endless. In 1655, John Wallis is credited with introducing the Infinity Symbol with its mathematical meaning, in his De sectionibus conicis. This I thought was crazy, since he basically thought up a symbol that represents the 2 D form of DNA , which is the basic code in which the possibilities are endless.
  3. The number 8, in Numerology, has a basic meaning of: Endlessness -the Material & Spiritual balance, manifestation, one-pointedness of mind, wholeness, strength, power, success, self-discipline, achievement, abundance, entrepreneur, and leadership. The number 8 is also the atomic number for oxygen.

Now, how does 8 have anything to do with DNA? A team of researchers has expanded the genetic alphabet by creating synthetic DNA that uses eight letters rather than four, according to a new study published in the journal Science. The new manufactured structure is called “hachimoji DNA.” The possibilities and uses for the “hachimoji DNA” are now endless, especially with the potential of being an upgraded storage capacity means. We could actually use the eight-letter DNA to store information, like a super-durable, microscopic computer chip. Apparently, DNA lasts far longer and takes up much less space than hard drives, and researchers have successfully stored a full computer operating system and an entire movie in normal, four-letter DNA.

SO, now you are at the end of the article and you are thinking, “Where are you going with this”….. and like I stated at the top of this article, it was just random thoughts. Below is more information on the “hachimoji DNA”.

Where to obtain a Tarot Reading on the Internet

There are many ways/places to obtain a tarot reading. However, I am just going to focus on 5 places to obtain a reading.

1. Now if you are looking for free, well I got you covered. The first place that comes to mind is YouTube. I like using YouTube for free readings. Granted, the readings cover numerous individuals, but I feel it still can strike a cord within you. I find all the readers do a great job, it really just depends if you vibe with the reader. I have had personal psychic readings in where the reader admitted they could not tune in with my energy. So, you will just need to decided if you vibe with the reader.

Below are some of the Psychics and Mediums I viewed on YouTube. Many of them will also offer private readings as well. Also, there are numerous other options if none of the below work for you.

3. Pinterest is a good way to gain more information on Tarot as well as readings. You can type in the search browser, “Tarot Reading”. Sample page: https://www.pinterest.com/steakgal/tarot-readings/

4. Now on to Paid Readings. I have used a couple of different sites. The first one I started with was Fiverr. Once you sign up, all the transactions are through the website. Often the psychics will present you with mp3 readings. If you are introverted like me, the lack of face to face contact really works for me. Below are psychic readers I have used in the past and have enjoyed. Once again, like above, use your intuition on choosing a reader. What may work for me, may not work for you.

Japan: 5 Things to do before going

Life Changing? Most Definitely! Absoultly amazing and will need more than one post, but this is a good start.

1. Bring lots of Japanese Yen: Cash is still the most common payment method, especially if it is a small amount. There has been an increased acceptance of credit and debit cards but mostly only in the larger cities. You can obtain Yen from your bank, Currency Exchange Businesses and at international airports.

2. Obtain Japanese Rail Pass (JR Pass) prior to going to Japan. The JR Pass is the official train pass allowing unlimited use of trains within Japan. It’s valid for the inter-city and regional trains, as well as for the Shinkansen bullet train, Narita Express (NEX) and buses and boats that are part of JR group. Depending on the time you want to stay in Japan, you can choose JR Pass for 7, 14, or 21 days, each of them as a Standard Pass, or Green pass (First Class). (*Tip once in Japan make sure to book your seats 1 to 2 days prior to your trip. This way you can assure you will have a place to sit.)

3. Check to make sure your medically required items are allowed. Most are allowed, but you may need to pre-certify or register them prior to your arrival. This includes certain prescription medications.

4. Make sure your passport is valid with at least six months remaining before it expires or you may not be allowed to enter Japan upon arrival. You should always check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan to make sure you do not require a visa to enter as well.

5. Get international calling for your cell phone and also remember to purchase a Japan travel adapter or plug.

Top 5 things I LOVE and incorporate into my daily life due to exploration

Throughout my exploration of healing, there are 5 things I love and try to do daily/weekly. Let the list begin!

1. Dance Meditation: Totally going to write about different meditation techniques but this is by far my favorite. I can give Tom Cruise a run for his money if there was an alternate reality and Risky Business dance scene turned into dance off.

2. Tarot Readings: Love them! What can I say…. Love to watch them on YouTube and give myself my own readings as well. However, this may be more weekly then daily but anyways.

3. Yoga: I try to do yoga. (I just heard Yoda calmly berating me in my head, “There is no try.”) So, I do yoga. It may not be pretty but I feel like exercise has been accomplished.

4. Hertz Sound Therapy: Listen to this on YouTube every day. Totally helps in my everyday life. Please also check out this post: https://soulhealingadventures.com/mystical-hertz-sound-therapy/

5. Reiki: Such a Great form of healing that I typically apply it to myself on a daily bases (my eyes get tired and red, especially using electronics, and this relieves the redness and pain).

*Totally, looking forward to trying Candle Meditation, hence the picture.

Mystical Hertz Sound Therapy

Mystical or Magical, what is Hertz Sound Therapy? I stumbled upon this while on YouTube and it really has helped when I am feeling emotional or stressed out. Apparently, you can use different sound frequencies to intercept your brainwaves and promote healing on a physical level. Basically, Sound has been used as a healing tool for centuries and is still regularly utilized by many alternative health care centers and cultures. Traditional sound therapy tools are Tibetan singing bowls, tuning forks, drumming therapy, and even chanting.

I have checked out ton of websites and the gist of how it works which was stated best by SHAPE writer Ashley Mateo, “WTF is Sound Healing, really?”. By using specific rhythms and frequencies, you can slowdown your brain from the beta state (which is normal consciousness) to the theta state (which is relaxed consciousness) and then even to the delta state (where internal healing can occur).

Now back to how you can check it out for FREE!!!

I love YouTube for HZ Frequency music, below are some links to creators that I like to boogie down to:

1. Meditative Mind: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMeditativeMind

2. Meditation and Healing: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM7XCXnxtYJkkMN0zf0tsSw

3. Power Throughts Meditation Club: https://www.youtube.com/user/PowerThoughtsclub

This is a good way to get your feet wet. Also, you can try the Tibetan Singing Bowls, I know people swear by them. If you would like to check out the SHAPE article for more details, Please see the link: https://www.shape.com/lifestyle/mind-and-body/science-behind-sound-healing

Glorious Goat Yoga: What to Expect and Prepare

Glorious it is this new founded Yoga which involves Goats! You are wondering how is this healing be accosted by goats while trying basic yoga moves? A bold question indeed and the response to that query is they are just Great FUN! The Goats are excited to see everyone and get goofy and in turn the humans get goofy with them. Now you are thinking well I must try this, but what should I know about Goat Yoga before trying it. Glad you asked.

My Friendly Goat Companions

Top Ten things you should Prepare and know about Goat Yoga (maybe should have used this for the title but c’est la vie).

1. Wear old clothing: Make sure not to wear anything new or you have the slightest affection for because Goat Yoga can be disgusting! Don’t let this put you off, but the Goats have no issue relieving themselves on top of you, near you, around you. You get the picture.

2. Take an extra shirt or sweatshirt. Please see Comment 1, if curious as to why.

3. Adult goats are heavy. Not much you can do if an adult goat thinks your the cat’s pajamas, however, it will test your strength and resolve. This will also lead to an amusing story that will at least be the topic of conversation for many weeks.

4. Do not encourage head butting. They will ask you not to play with the goats in head butting. I highly agree with this assessment. The last thing anyone needs is to be knocked out after trying to complete downward dog.

5. Most places will provide you with Yoga Mats. Check before going, but most Goat Yoga Institutions provide the mats due to the incidents that may occur.

6. You do not need to be skilled in yoga. Trust me, I went and my yoga skills are subpar at best.

7. Make sure to take pictures, everyone you know will want to see.

8. You will be interacting more with the Goats then performing yoga. Between shaking off your yoga mat and wondering when the Adult Goat will jump on the next back, I can confidently say you do not need to be in great shape to complete this exercise.

9. Nor rain, nor snow, nor dark of night…..well….maybe just nor rain. I live in the Pacific Northwest and the Goat Yoga moved forth even with rain. The place had a mock party tent, so we stayed dry, enjoyed being outside, and hung out with some hilarious goats.

10. Prepare the checkbooks, you will want to buy the merchandise. It is hard to walk away from a Goat Yoga Sweatshirt, especially if you were involved with a Goat’s bathroom break. However, it is really just a great conversation starter with people. When I am involved in an awkward situation, without an appropriate topic, I can in a cool causal manner, point to my shirt and then the conversation flows.
